Why do you want to become a Cabin Crew?

Hello, dear friends have you ever wonder that Why do you want to become a cabin crew? Or What inspires you to become a cabin crew? Because even if you have not thought about it yet let us get to the answer as it is one of the most common questions asked in the interview.
It may seem very easy and straight forward to you to answer this question but my friends it is not that easy. Here the recruiter wants to check your inclination towards your career and with your reply to the question he would be able to evaluate if you are the perfect candidate or not.
What exactly the recruiter wants to know?
Do you think that they only want to know the answer to Why do you want to become a cabin crew? If that is so you are on the wrong track, my friend.
So let’s see what they exactly looking for:
1.   If you are here because you are really ambitious about your career and this role.
2.   If you want this job for lucrative perks.
3.   If you are only about money or passion.
4.   If your preferences are about just a cabin crew or to being the cabin crew of a particular airline.
5.   You are choosing this job just because you want to pluck off the tag of being unemployed or you want to invest in yourself with the airline.
So, you see there are many factors hidden in just one easy question.
Now I will be giving you a few statements and using it as your answer is a big NO. They are not only very common but every other candidate will be answering the same words which will make the recruiter feel that either the candidate has learned the answer or he/she is not even a little creative. So, let’s see what those sentences are:
1.   I want to become a cabin crew because I love traveling.
2.   Because I love meeting new people.
3.   You love learning about new cultures.
4.   It is my childhood dream.
5.   Because I want to get rich.
Please do not use all these sentences while answering these questions because with this question being asked you are expected to prove why you are the perfect candidate for this job. So, you really need to give an honest answer as well as the answer should be able to justify your choice and the recruiter’s doubts too.
In the form of the template, I am going to tell you which point you should include at what step and how you can design an excellent answer with the smart choice of words:
  1.   Begin your answer with the name of the particular airline company whose interview you are attending. Example – I want to be a cabin crew with your XYZ Airline because…
You must be wondering why I have used the company name so using the company name gives a reflection that you are really into this the company, not some generic cabin crew.
- Also, your answer is unique from others.
- It makes the recruiter listen to the answer.
- In the end, it is not about what or why you want to become a cabin crew but it is about what you will bring that only you can possess for the company.
- Here you are creating a WIN-WIN the situation for both you and the company.
2.   Talk Positive for Positive Response, you have to speak at least 2 sentences in favor of the company. Example I want to be a cabin crew with XYZ Airlines because...
- It is a leading and top choice of the passenger looking for excellent customer service.
- Now here you telling some good words makes the recruiter think that you know what you are choosing for yourself.
- Also, they will not stop you from speaking because you are speaking positively about the company.
3.   What inspires you, talk about how you were inspired to make this job as your life goal, what kept you motivated.
4.   Tell a long story short to elaborate on your inspiration and motivation to the recruiter. Example – I want to be a cabin crew with XYZ Airlines because…
- It is a leading and top choice of the passenger looking for excellent customer service. I decided to become a cabin crew when I was 4 years old and traveled with an airline. I was really inspired by the beautiful and independent females with the way they were providing us the excellent customer service with a warm gesture. So, all these years I have waited for the right time.
5.   Talk about the key traits of the cabin crew that you possess and know how to use them as well. Now start speaking about the key trait that makes cabin crew different from others such as: Flexible, Adaptable, Punctual, the desire of delivering excellent customer services, approachable, jovial, and many more.
Being a helpful, approachable, and jovial person it makes it easier for the passenger to talk to me. And this can be an advantage for us to deliver excellent customer service.
6.   Describe your career expectation in positive sentences. Do not discuss your expectation of getting on something materialistic. Here career expectation includes terms like independent, confident, optimistic, courageous, and many more such words. Example
- I want to be a cabin crew with XYZ Airlines because it is a leading and top choice of the passenger looking for excellent customer service. I decided to become a cabin crew when I was 4 years old and traveled with an airline. I was really inspired by the beautiful and independent females with the way they were providing us the excellent customer service with a warm gesture. So, all these years I have waited for the right time. Being a helpful, approachable, and jovial person it makes it easier for the passenger to talk to me. And this can be an advantage for us to deliver excellent customer service. With the role of a cabin crew in this prestigious airline both the company and I can achieve a common goal and that is of making the customer fly again and again with us. Also, I can inspire more young and confident women to choose this role. Thank you.
- I want to be a cabin crew with XYZ Airlines because it is a leading and top choice of the passenger looking for excellent customer service. I understand that the cabin crew does more than just serve food and drinks. The job requires that we make a customer feel welcomed, important, and safe. They are the only factor which makes us feel safe even at 40000ft. With the role of a cabin crew in this prestigious airline both the company and I can achieve a common goal and that is of making the customer fly again and again with us. Also, I can inspire more young and confident women to choose this role. Thank you.
- I want to be a cabin crew with XYZ Airlines because it is a leading and top choice of the passenger looking for excellent customer serviceEver since I flew on holiday as a child, I have aspired to a member of a cabin crew team. Although I enjoy my current job, I would now like a career that is more challenging, varied, and exciting. I believe my own personal qualities would suit the role of a cabin crew member and I get great satisfaction from working in a team environment, where everybody is working towards the same goal. I understand that delivering a high level of service to the customer is a priority in this industry, and this is something that I would enjoy doing.
I’m also flexible and definitely can easily adjust to my environment. I’m willing to work in a team to achieve a common goal. Aside from that, I can offer the best customer service that will make customers wanted to fly with your airlines again.
- You can choose any of the formats or templates and edit them according to your skills and personality. I have used the first and last few lines in all the three formats because I think it’s quite an interesting and positive format, to begin with.

So you see in the end it’s all about what you are bringing to the company, how your goals are common with the companies achievement. Now make sure that you do not try to memorize the answer but use it as a template and prepare your answer based on that. Be confident while you speak because with perfect motion and emotion these words can turn into powerful sentences and increase your chance of getting hired.

Aviation and Airline job CV/Resume submission

Many of you most probably have heard loads of experiences that CV handover to the Recruitment Team can be really scary. Although you have most probably an Invitation to attend the Assessment Day, you will still be handling over the CV to the Recruitment Team. So I am going to focus here on that. On those crucial seconds when you basically HAVE TO BE REMEMBERED!
Of course, the locations, and the timings will be provided on the airline’s careers website. You are expected to be at the location during the set timings (I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU BE THERE WAY EARLIER) with the following documents:
  • Copy of your CV
  • Passport size photos
  • Full-length photos
  • Copy of your passport
  • Copy of your highest education certificate or diploma in its original language,
  • But please always do double-check the airline’s careers website to know exactly what do require?
And to highlight, I am sure that you already know that you are expected to present yourself wearing business attire, a smile from your heart, and answer all the questions that the recruitment team is going to ask you. Some of the most popular questions asked by the recruiter would be “Why do you want to become a cabin crew?”, “Why do you want to work for our airline?” or “What are you currently doing?”
The minutes or seconds in front of the recruitment team will decide if you move on to another stage – one of the chosen candidates who will have the opportunity to show more of their personality.

I want to once again highlight the following points:
  • Your grooming,
  • Your confidence along with your fluency in English,
  • Your personality,
  • The famous first impression that we talked about,
  • Your knowledge about the Airline,
Over here I want to stress a very important point. We all have our Role Models and someone that we look up to and often, intentionally or unintentionally we adopt from them. I remember that during my Leadership training, the very first the exercise we had was to choose among powerful influencers and leaders and to speak why we have chosen them. And all were famous, well known, and full of integrity and credibility. From the very beginning, this defined us in which the direction our Leadership is going to be going, and based on this we were getting the guidelines and the knowledge from the instructor.
That is why I want to stress to you to please, follow and choose people that are going to lift you up in every sense of the word. Remember an old saying that says: Tell me who you hang out with, and I will tell you who you are. Well, it is equally important here. I would say: Tell me who do you follow, and I will tell you how big your chances to become Cabin Crew are.

How to be Confident during the Open Day/Assessment Day/Final Interview

Have you felt nervous on your EX Assessment day, Final Interview, Open Day, or even by thinking when meeting the Recruitment Team? Let me tell you that feeling nervous is absolutely normal. Many candidates worry about showing their nervousness. You should not think about this too much. Once you are in the room and the process starts rolling, you will forget about it and be yourself if you implement all that I am going to share with you over here.
Showing nervousness is also indicative that you care about the job, that you possess a level of responsibility towards your future role, and that the Interview is important to you. The Recruitment Team understands this completely. Remember, most of them started as Cabin Crew, just like you.
What will help you be more confident is being aware of the signals that you send and the message they convey.
Body language is a form of nonverbal communication. It consists of facial expressions, body posture, gestures, and eye movements. Humans send and interpret all these signs almost entirely subconsciously. Understanding the importance of things you do not say puts you one step forward during the assessment process.
Body language makes up for more than 90% of our communication and it takes only 30 seconds for somebody to decide if they like us or not.
I am sure you have been in a situation when you talked to somebody and you knew that what they said was very different from what they meant. All by getting clues from their body language. To ensure that you make the biggest impact when meeting someone now, keep in mind the following aspects:
Facial expressionsThe smile is the most important feature of a Cabin Crew. They are always smiling and looking happy. They make their passengers feel welcomed and at ease. When you are dropping your CV, talking to your interviewer and colleagues during the tasks or breaks, keep positive facial expressions. Smile and say Thank you often. Ask your family and close friends if they noticed any facial ticks you might have: lifting your eyebrow when you are bored or questioning, pursing your lips when you avoid telling the truth, rolling your eyes when you disagree or looking down when you feel intimidated.
Body language

When seated, keep your spine straight and upright, your hands resting on the table or on your lap. Sitting far in your seat with your legs parted or arms in the air can be interpreted as boredom or an attitude of superiority. When you go through the 1-on-1 final interview, the easiest way to deal with sending the right signal is to mirror the assessor’s body posture.
Eye contact
Always maintain eye contact with the people talking to you. The easiest way to do this without staring is to focus on the point located between the eyebrows of the person in front of you. If you get tired, move your gaze to the person’s left ear, then right ear. Do not look up or down, this may signify boredom or avoiding to answer truthfully. it is very important to understand the difference between Eye contact and Staring. Some people, just because they are nervous the actually stare at the interviewer and that makes the situation very uneasy for both.
Gestures
In difficult situations, we tend to fold our hands across our bodies because it makes us feel more protected. Avoid doing this during the job interview, as it may be perceived as defensive. Support your words with open hand gestures. When introducing a colleague to the rest of the group you may point with both hands towards the person. Subconscious gestures such as touching your mouth, ears, or nose may betray what you really think. Most people touch their mouths after they say a lie or their ears after they heard something they do not like. Be aware of what you do with your Hands.
Thank you for reading, will be back soon with more writing.

Airline/Aviation Job Preparation: Do you have any Questions for Us?

Often cabin crew aspirants ask me what are the questions that you should ask if the Recruitment Team asks you: Do you have any questions for us? You don’t want to say you don’t have any questions even if you feel like everything is clear. Just responding with a ‘no’ will make you look disengaged and not interested in what has just happened. It won’t look professional.

It doesn’t mean you have to have a huge problem to solve or an in-depth question. It’s alright to feel relatively certain about things after an interview. However, you want to respond with at least one question or thing you want clarified to show you’ve been paying attention and that you actually care about getting the job.
Here a small list that I believe is relevant and will help you present yourself as an outstanding candidate for the job role called Cabin Crew:
Questions you should ask
  • Is there a maximum age practiced by your airline for hiring flight attendants?
  • What is the process for in-house promotions?
  • What are the opportunities for professional development in your company?
  • What is the airline policy regarding family members visiting?
  • What do you expect from team members in this position?
  • Does the airline support continuous education?
  • What are the next steps in the interview process?
  • What’s your favorite part about working at the company?
  • How does my role contribute to larger company goals?
And here are the questions I believe you should NOT ask
  • What's in for me if I take this job?
  • What are my chances to meet a nice guy in the first/business class and get married?
  • Are there rude passengers?
  • Is this a difficult job?
  • Do we really have to clean the toilets?
  • Is it true that during night flights we are not allowed to sleep or read magazines/books?
  • How much salary can I expect in the first month of working? How much will be the increment each year?
  • How many vacation/leave do we get per month/year?
  • What are the perks of being a flight attendant with your airline?
These are just a few examples, you can definitely have your own questions as well. It’s also a great idea to use this opportunity to get an idea of what the interviewer thought about you. The question gives you the opportunity to go over your strengths once more and to redeem yourself if things have not been going quite as smoothly as you hoped. You should ask questions that will help you understand the company better and learn more about the kind of team you’d be working with – this is important because you don’t want to end up in a team or culture that doesn’t match your work personality. Asking questions about the interviewer, more specifically, is also great for bonding and creating a more meaningful relationship.
Thank you for reading will be back soon with more writings.

Airline/Aviation Job Preparation: Tell me something about Yourself

You have submitted the resume and you waited patiently and finally, you got that phone call, and now you got the interview. You’re sitting across the interviewers and the hiring manager smiles and asks you the question…“Tell me about yourself”. And you panic. And you don’t know what to do. You don’t know what to say. You start to stutter. And halfway through the conversation, STOPPED. Usually, the hiring manager/recruiter or HR Manager whoever is there makes up his or her mind in the first two minutes during the interview.
REMEMBER! FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE LAST IMPRESSION.

So today I’m going to share with you from a recruiter perspective, from an employer perspective, what is the best response to the question “Tell me about yourself”. However, we can make a very impressive answer and response. This is not a theory. I’m also going to give you a little template, so next time when you are asked this question you know exactly what to say.
When the hiring team is asking you the question “Tell me about yourself”:
They are DO NOT want to know about your whole life story. They don’t ask about your parents, your background, and your car’s name, and what kind of pet do you have.
What they’re actually asking is what you can bring to the table? So now on, when you hear this question, “tell me about yourself” I want you to make your mind switch. What value could you bring to the company? What problems you can solve for the company? That’s what they are asking. And you should not go on and on and on about all your background and all of that. No. Don’t do that. Be yourself, but be your best self.
See, one of the most common mistakes people make here is they believe that it is okay that if I being myself. Yes, you want to be yourself, but you want to be your best self. You have to be authentic, you do not want to be fake. But it doesn’t mean that you just share everything. This is your first meeting with a hiring manager, it’s not less than a date. Right? Lead with your strong foot forward. So when you are asked the question, everything you share, any statement that you make, you always want to tie it back.
  • Now here’s a script that you could use. “I have been…..” Or, “My background is …..” So, let me demonstrate. Let’s say it’s the same position, CABIN CREW that you’re applying. Here brag about your SUCCESS story. START with I has been.
  •  I have been dreaming of this job of a cabin crew since childhood. In the last twelve months, I have improved my communication skills and learned a new LANGUAGE and working towards my dream continuously.
  •  Now if the company is running operations in that destination which is your hobby language it will be turned into a WIN-WIN situation for both the employee and the employer.
  •  Here you are talking about your success but without bragging. It’s more to demonstrate and showcase your skills. What are you good at? That’s that number one, success. Start with “My strength is” or “my real strength is” - I know what my customer/passenger want. I know the value of serving my guests with a warm smile. Offering them the same services with the respect that I would love to be offered
  • Meaning, how you fit for the role with your strength and your backgrounds.
  • What I’m looking for is a company that I could add value to, ( in case they ask what VALUE you can say that your company a certain achievement let us work as a team towards a bigger one.) that I could produce a positive return on investment. Where I could join a strong team. Is this what ABC Company is looking for?
  • In the end, you ask a question. Whoever asks a question controls the conversation. Just because you are in an interview doesn’t mean that you don’t need to sell.
The next question
you might have is well, does that mean that I have to memorize a script of some sort? And the answer is absolute YES. You don’t want to go in unprepared. In fact, you want to write it out, practice it, and rehearse it as many times as required. So when you are in front of a potential recruiter, you are ready to rock. You can memorize it and say it as many times and repeat it many times so it comes across very naturally.

Thank you for reading, will be back soon with more writings.
